Hi Friends, I narrate about the Benefits of GRE and How to Prepare for GRE in this Article. Make use of It Friends and AllĀ the Very Best.
1)Why do US universities require students to write GRE separately?
US universities use GRE to measure an applicant’s aptitude ability just like how CAT is used for MBA and GATE is used for M.Tech in India. The GRE is used in few universities to screen out applicants falling below the minimum requirement to make the application evaluation process a bit simpler for the graduate admissions committee. Another way the graduate admissions committee uses the GRE score is for comparison. Since the final GRE score is displayed with percentile along with the score out of 340, the admissions committee uses the percentile to compare between applicants to decide which application is better if it really comes down to GRE score in the end.
2)In terms of Verbal reasoning what’s the difference between GRE & GMAT?
GRE tests your more of your vocabulary and GMAT tests more of your grammar knowledge in the verbal reasoning section. In GRE, the type of questions you get are Sentence Equivalence(SE), Text Completion(TC) and Reading Comprehension. In TC and SE, you need to know the meaning of the words given in the answer choices to use it in the context of the sentence given in the question. Whereas in GMAT, you have sentence correction, Critical Reasoning and long RC passages. Sentence correction requires in-depth knowledge of all the fundamentals of grammar. There is another significant difference. You have just one verbal reasoning section in GMAT for 75 minutes and 42 questions, whereas you have 2 to 3 verbal reasoning sections, each having 20 questions and 30 minutes long in the GRE depending on what you get as experimental section. 50% of questions in the GRE are critical reasoning and long RC questions whereas in GMAT, the distribution of question types is a bit erratic since it is a question adaptive test i.e the questions that appear next is based on the right or wrong answers you have provided in your previous questions.
3)Is GRE score a factor for scholarship?
GRE score is definitely a factor in getting scholarships. There are lot of factors that influence your chances of getting scholarships either sky-rocketing them or pulling them down significantly. Academic profile, research background, extra-curricular and co-curricular achievements aside. Your score in TOEFL and GRE matters a great deal. Especially your GRE score, because a high GRE score implies that you have strong logical, analytical and verbal abilities. Exactly what the MS course looks for in a potential graduate. A high score in Quant make the university admission committee sit up and takes note and at the same time makes your profile stand out among other similar ones.
